Watched Evan Almighty tonight, great film, highly recommend it. If you liked Bruce Almighty you will love this too. Makes you laugh and makes you think! And Morgan Freeman is so good as God.
A blog for all SNOG members past and present to keep in touch.
We had a great time in Brighton. There is something great about being together with so many other Christians. The worship sessions were really good and the teaching was excellent but challenging. I may have to get some of the talks on cd as I'm sure some of you would find them good (in fact maybe I could use them in the worship session I am leading later in the term!) We sang some new songs too, there should be some details going up on their website soon so you can all learn them too!| You Are From the Moon |
You can vibe with the steady rhythms of the Moon. You're in touch with your emotions and intuition. You possess a great, unmatched imagination - and an infinite memory. Ultra-sensitive, you feel at home anywhere (or with anyone). A total healer, you light the way in the dark for many. |
| You Are From Saturn |
You're steady, organizes, and determined to achieve your dreams. You tend to play it conservative, going by the rules (at least the practical ones). You'll likely reach the top. And when you do, you'll be honorable and responsible. Focus on happiness. Don't let your goals distract you from fun! Don't be too set in your ways, and you'll be more of a success than you ever dreamed of. |
| You Are From Pluto |
You are a dark, mysterious soul, full of magic and the secrets of the universe. You can get the scoop on anything, but you keep your own secrets locked in your heart. You love change and you use it to your advantage, whether by choice or chance. You don't like to compromise, to the point of being self-destructive with your stubborness. Live life with love, and your deep powers will open the world to you. |
| You Are From Neptune |
You are dreamy and mystical, with a natural psychic ability. You love music, poetry, dance, and (most of all) the open sea. Your soul is filled with possibilities, and your heart overflows with compassion. You can be in a room full of friendly people and feel all alone. If you don't get carried away with one idea, your spiritual nature will see you through anything. |
There is going to be a new version of Monopoly with cities instead of streets and you are able to vote for the cities to be on the board. Why not go vote for Worcester?
I found these survey results on John Smulo's blog. Its an American survey but I'm guessing it applies to some degree to pastors over here. Looks like Peter might really be in need of the sabbatical!
48% of pastors think their work is hazardous to the well-being of their family
45% will experience depression or burnout severe enough to be the catalyst to leave ministry
Pastors have the second highest rate of divorce among professions
According to leadership expert Peter Drucker, pastors have one of the four hardest jobs in America, alongside the president of the USA, president of a university, and hospital CEO
Only 1 out of 20 pastors will retire as a pastor. Many leave due to burn out, are fired, have a moral breakdown, or quit
Most pastors are lonely
The longer one is a pastor, the lower their self-esteem will likely be
Wasn't Martyn Joseph great? But then have we ever seen him being anything else except fantastic! If you didn't come you don't know what a good night you missed out on!
I had an email newsletter from Helen, sounds like she is having a good time and still enjoying what she is doing. She says she is back in England on Monday then going back on April 2nd, so I will try and find out if she will be about for a snog meeting. She says she is looking forward to catching up with all her friends.Wow! You are awesome! You are a true Biblical scholar, not just a hearer but a personal reader! The books, the characters, the events, the verses - you know it all! You are fantastic!

Would you like to support your favourite charity by surfing the net? Everyclick is a search engine which donates money to charity every time you make a search, if you register you can even choose the charity where your money goes. Why help Google rake in the cash when you could be helping a good cause? Go and have a look, it sounds like a great idea to me (and it was the brainchild of one of our ex-teachers!). See a video of the full story here. Please tell all your friends and colleagues about it.
To any non-snog readers (I know there are a few!) this is the one and only Beth. I was deficient in my duties and did not give her a birthday message on her birthday some months ago, but I hope she will forgive me if I give her this moment of fame on the world wide web! (And maybe Martin will at last be induced to comment on the blog, come on, we know you can do it!)
